A guided tour of the second most populated city of Peloponnese, Kalamata. It starts at the wonderful cathedral “Ypapanti”. Next, customers explore the old city where history was made by visiting Ag. Apostoli – a landmark of the Greek revolution against the Turks back in 1821 and the 23rd March square parades take place and speeches are given annually marking the initiation of the Greek revolution. After they visit the vibrant central (farmers’) market with a great variety of fresh fruits and vegetables a great prices. Next in order is a walk in the old part of the city to admire the surroundings and visit remarkable little shops where traditional foods and delicacies are still made -you may even get the chance to taste some though that is not guaranteed.
Kalamata Through Our Eyes is a guided tour throughout specific parts of the city taking in history, culture, food and even shopping since this tour is a great chance for participants to bring some of the local delicacies back home: olives, olive oil, honey,pasteli, lallagia, tsipouroand smoked pork to name a few. Following the guided tour there will be time to enjoy some coffee or lunch before we return.
